The college offers a well balanced programme of theoretical lectures on journalism and practical experience to young talents. Rudolf Renger (Professor at the Institute for Communication Sciences at Salzburg University) and former Dean Adolf Haslinger are in charge of the theory behind journalism. Media professionals such as Siegbert Stronegger (Austrian Radio Salzburg and Director of Cultural Services), Helmut Spudich (netBusiness Standard) and online specialist Markus Pirchner of futurebytes will focus on the practical approach to journalism. The College will be run with the help of the Salzburg Management Business School (SMBS).

Within a week, the seminar's objective is to give the participants a comprehensive view of the various aspects of the "Salzburg Festival", which has grown into a large cultural business. The seminar programme includes practical training by experienced representatives of cultural journalism, experts discussions with the Members of the Festival's Management Board, including the Artistic Directors as well as visits "behind the scenes".

The candidates from the various countries were able to apply directly by using the special website of the College http://www.uniqa-college.com/. This site will serve as permanent basis for all matters dealing with this new institution.

As Dr Andreas Brandstetter, Member of the UNIQA Board and in charge of international business declared, "The UNIQA College for Journalists is intended to build new bridges for culturally interested people from other countries. The College is also designed to open the Salzburg Festival to a larger public and to prove our determination to think across European borders also in terms of socio-cultural matters".
